Jade refers to an ornamental stone mostly known for its varieties of green, although it can range in colour from white to black.
Two types of Jade are known, that being Nephrite Jade and Jadeite.
Jadeite has a hardness of 6.5-7 on mohs scale and is much rarer and pricey to that of nephrite jade. Nephrite Jade has a hardness of 6-6.5 on mohs scale and is one method that gemologists use to identify.
