Banded Onyx is a variety of Chalcedony, a micro-crystalline Quartz, silicon dioxide, that exhibits straight, parallel banding. The orange/red/brown coloured varieties of Banded Onyx are usually known as Sardonyx.
In crystal healing Banded Onyx is seen as a stone of happiness, good fortune and strength. Green Banded Onyx is associated with the heart.
